AT THE CROSS
|
Psalm 22:1 My God My God why have you forsaken Me. 7,8 All you see Me mock Me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads: He trusted in the Lord let the Lord rescue Him. Let Him deliver Him since He delights in Him. 14-18 I am poured out like water, and my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within Me. My strength has dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue sticks to the roof of My mouth; you lay Me in the dust of death. Dogs have surrounded Me; a band of evil men have encircled Me, They have pierced My hands and My feet. I can count all My bones; people stare and gloat over Me. They divide my garment among them and cast lots for My clothing. Isaiah 50:6,7 I offered my back to those who beat Me, My cheeks to those who pulled out My beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting. Because the sovereign Lord helps Me I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame. 53:3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and familiar with suffering.Like one from whom men hide their faces He was despised and we esteemed Him not. 5 but He was peirced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him; and by His wounds we are healed. 6 We all like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; He was led like a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before the shearers is silent so He did not open His mouth. 9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death, though He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth. Zechariah 12:They will look on Me the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for Him as one grieves for a firstborn son.Matthew 27:33-50 They came to a place called Golgatha which means The Place of the Skull. There the offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it He refused to drinkit. When they had crucifed Him, they divided up His clothes by casting lots. And sitting down they kept watch over Him there. Above His head they placed the written charge against Him THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS Two robbers were crucified with Him, one on His right and one on His left. Those who passed by hurled insults at Him, shaking their heads and saying, You who are going to destroy this temple and build it in three days, save yourself. Come down from the cross if you are the Son of God. In the same way the chief priest, and the teachers of the law, and the elders mocked Him. He saved others they said, but He cant save HimselfHes the king of Israel! Let Him come down from the cross and we will believe in Him. He trust in God let God rescue Him now if He wants Him for He saidI am the Son of God. In the same way the robbers who were crucified with Him also heaped insults on Him. From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, Eloi Eloi Lama Sabachthani? which means My God My God why have you forsaken Me. When some of them standing there heard this they saidHes calling Elijah. Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar put it on a stick and offered it to Jesus to drink. The rest said, Now leave Him alone lets see if Elijah comes to save Him. And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His Spirit.
